This is an oldie revisited. The popular Indigo Red supersnap is making a reappearance due to popular demand. It is embellished with bright red buttons and lined internally with bright red cotton fabric.
Indigo and red make such a great combination.
Definitely a statement piece. Dress up your summer dress or add some colour to your jeans and t-shirt look! I
A couple of years ago we started the A to Z Initiative where we upcycle fabric into new products. The idea is to make use of fabric that is still in good condition in products in the Urbanknit store. We then donate part of the proceeds from the sale of these items to particular charities that are close to our hearts.
For this particular tote, the Aso-oke fabric for the outer fabric as well as the Ankara lining where both donated. Thank you Laitan and Mrs S! The Tommy tote makes a great beach bag and also serves as a great alternative to plastic bags when you go grocery shipping at the supermarket. It also makes a great weekend bag.
The Tommy tote is roomy and comfortable to carry due to the wide straps. It also has 3 large inner pockets to store smaller items for easier retrieval.
You can check out the Red Tommy Tote here: www.urbanknit.com/shop/red-black-tommy-tote/
You can also have a look at other products that are part of the initiative here: The A to Z Initiative Thanks for browsing! Looking forward to those orders!
African print jackets are a great way to add that special touch to casual or simple outfit.
Over on Polyvore, I have started putting together ‘looks’ to show ways you can rock your Urbanknit swag. Starting with the Indigo Batik Blazer which is a 3/4 sleeved cropped jacket. What better than mixing blue, white and red?
Makes a simple yet crisp look because of the contrast of the colours. What do you think? How would you wear yours?
We are continuing our weekly tradition of selecting a cool t-shirt every Thursday. Be sure to check out our Cool Tees board on Pinterest.
The Cool Tee for today is the VINTAGE BICYCLE t-shirt from Zen Threads over on Etsy. With a weakness for almost any imagery or theme that represents bicycles and a bright in-your-face red, whats not to like about this tee. It is available in other colours but this one is my favourite.
We would love to hear your own suggestions for cool tees so please leave a comment and we’ll be sure to have a look!
This summer marks 60 years of The Queen’s reign in the United Kingdom and beyond. As the Diamond Jubilee celebrations kick off this weekend, we thought we’d give an African twist to the Jubilee celebrations and here it is.
The Jubilee shopper is made using ‘Aso-oke’ which is a loom-woven textile from Nigeria in West Africa. It is hand woven and the finished strips are usually sewn together to make clothing. The textile is worn during special occasions like weddings, festivals, coronations and so on making it just the perfect material to use!
This large shopper is roomy and perfect for a day out in the park as it’ll fit your blanket and everything else. It would also make a great alternative to plastic bags for your grocery shopping.
