1:54 Contempoary African Art Fair

 

1:54 is billed to be the first contemporary African Art Fair, which will be held in London between the 16-20 October 2013. It takes its name from 54 countries on the continent and will feature the work of over 70 artists ranging from sculpture to photography and a lot more. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience and engage with African art!

1:54 is a platform for galleries, artists, curators, art centres and museums involved in African and Africa related projects and aims to promote art by established and emerging talents amongst an international audience.

1:54 is designed by David Adjaye and will be held at Somerset House, a historic building and major cultural arts centre in the heart of London. It will feature the works of artists such as Meschac Gaba, whose work has recently been bought by the Tate; Venice Biennale Golden-Lion-winner Edson Chagas; Aboudia, whose work has been bought by the Saatchi Gallery; Sammy Baloji whose work has been exhibited at the Tate or Sokari Douglas Camp who is attracting a lot of attention in the international art market.

1:54 will be accompanied by an educational and artistic programme and will include lectures, film screenings and panel debates featuring leading international curators, artists and art experts.
